Common questions

When does pricing start?
Pricing activates at launch. During the open beta, all authorized users have full access at no charge. You will receive at least 30 days' notice before any billing begins.
What counts as an API call?
Each request to a data endpoint (census, GIS, addresses) counts as one call. Search and autocomplete requests (/subdivision-search, /characteristic-search) are not counted toward usage.
Is there a free tier after launch?
Yes. The Explorer tier remains free with access to the full API surface. It's designed for individuals, researchers, and projects that don't need high-volume or batch access.
How does volume pricing work?
Developer plan pricing scales down with volume — from $0.05/call at low volumes to $0.005/call at high volumes. Exact tiers will be published before launch. Enterprise customers can negotiate flat-rate or custom pricing.
Can I switch plans after launch?
Yes. Plans can be upgraded or downgraded at any time from your portal. Billing is usage-based, so there are no penalties for switching.
Is data from all plans the same?
Yes. All plans access the same 2,600+ census topics and 5,600+ subdivisions. Higher plans unlock processing features (batch, geocoding, GIS) and support - not more data.
